New Zealand Warriors fullback Wade McKinnon has received backing from the National Rugby League (NRL) club's boss after being accused of spitting at a match official.
McKinnon was placed on report by referee Ben Cummins during yesterday's 42-20 win over Penrith in Auckland for allegedly spitting at a touch judge.
The touch judge told Cummins that McKinnon spat at him.
McKinnon should learn later today whether the matter will go the NRL judiciary.
Warriors chief executive Wayne Scurrah today said McKinnon had the club's total support.
"In light of media reports last night and this morning we have talked at length to Wade and he denies any wrongdoing," Scurrah said.
"We understand that the matter is now before the NRL's match review committee.
"If any charge results it will be vigorously defended."
In the meantime, Scurrah said neither the club nor McKinnon would be making any further comment.
