KEY POINTS:
The Warriors are backing the tough stance taken by the National Rugby League (NRL) on Sonny Bill Williams after he walked out on the Canterbury Bulldogs.
NRL chief executive David Gallop is threatening Williams with a life ban from the competition should he sign for any overseas club.
Warriors CEO Wayne Scurrah says the situation calls for the NRL to be as supportive as possible to the Bulldogs.
He says it would be a terribly dangerous precedent to allow a player to walk out on a club midway through the season and not honour their contract.
Williams was due to play for the Bulldogs against the St George Illawarra Dragons this evening.
Kiwis coach Stephen Kearney admits he could see the day coming where Williams would walk out on the Bulldogs and Rugby League.
Kearney now faces the prospect of the Rugby League World Cup without his star player.
He says Williams struggled with the pressure that comes with living in a fish bowl in Sydney.
He says he was aware Sonny Bill had a few issues but it would have been a difficult decision to walk out on his club and teammates.
