Warriors star Stacey Jones is set to be released from the last year of his current contract with the NRL league club.
Jones is contracted until the end of 2006.
However, talk in the past few days linking the Warriors with Anthony Mundine has started the Jones speculation again.
Mundine has set his sights on a return to the football field after his super-middleweight title fight against Denmark's Mikkel Kessler early next month.
Warriors chief executive Mick Watson says he became aware of Mundine's intentions on Friday, and a call to his manager Khoder Nasser confirmed his interest in the Warriors.
In a statement, Watson says he will sit down with Jones after the June 30th anti-tampering cut off date.
Jones says in the same statement that he is fully aware of the club's plans and he is totally focused on playing 2005 with the Warriors.
The rumour mill suggests Jones could be released out of his 2006 option, and is likely to head to the UK Superleague, possibly playing for a new French team.
Jones' agent Peter Brown says Jones has not mentioned anything to him about leaving the club.
