KEY POINTS:
The spirit of Sonny Fai still runs with the Warriors.
The strapping secondrower should be celebrating his 21st on the 20th of next month and playing against the Sea Eagles in Manly two days later.
Fai's loss at sea at Bethells Beach in January hasn't affected the goals the Warriors set at the start of the season, nor their approach to them. But it may serve to give them some extra added motivation this season.
"We all share that tragedy," said coach Ivan Cleary this week. "He's always high in our memory - I'm sure it will bond the players a little bit."
Cleary said he remembered Fai's sunny demeanour and smiling face. "He loved to laugh and I know he'd want the boys to have a good time too. A laugh is never far away when we think of him."
