Warriors playmaker James Maloney has signed a three-year deal with NRL rivals Sydney Roosters starting in 2013.
A standout performer as the Warriors reached the 2011 grand final, 25-year-old five eighth Maloney is seen by the Roosters as an ideal halves partner for NSW Origin halfback Mitchell Pearce.
His arrival could cloud the role of captain Braith Anasta, who took over at five eighth when Todd Carney was stood down and could face a return to the back row.
"2011 was a breakthrough year for James and we see him taking his game to the next level at the Roosters, forming a strong long-term partnership in the halves with Mitchell Pearce,'' said Roosters recruitment boss Peter O'Sullivan.
Roosters coach Brian Smith was delighted to snare Maloney.
