KEY POINTS:
The Junior Warriors displayed the full range of skills and scored tries in almost every way you can in their eliminator at Mt Smart last night to swamp the Panthers under-20s 38-4.
Props Russell Packer and Leeson Ah Mau made big ground for them, the support play from the backrowers was excellent and the backs prospered.
At five minutes the Panthers felt Packer-power as the 18-year-old prop, already NRL experienced, took three runs in repeat sets close to the Penrith line then scored.
Aaron Pawley ran 10 metres from dummy-half and scored.
Bill Tupou gathered a kick to the right wing for try three.
Fullback Kevin Locke scored a long-range try from support play.
The Panthers were restricted to few attacking raids in the red zone due to hammering defence and good kick and chase.
It was 26 minutes before Penrith got points through a kick for wing William Isa and the second half ran in similar fashion, Warriors wing Thomas Ah Van and halfback Isaac John scoring early and the Penrith playing like stunned mullets.
They await the outcome of the Eels/Dragons under-20s match and the NRL match between the Broncos and Storm today to find out whether they will meet their next opponents the Broncos on the Friday night or Saturday.
The NRL will match the Broncos sides up with the curtainraiser and main game if their top team wins.
