KEY POINTS:
Australian rugby league greats Laurie Daley and Mario Fenech will be among the drawcards at the National Rugby League's (NRL) Community Carnival in Auckland next month.
The event, being run jointly by the NRL, the New Zealand Warriors and the Auckland Rugby League, is based on the NRL's Country Carnival in Australia.
It is being held in New Zealand first the time and will be staged from February 13 to 18.
"It's great to see the NRL and the Warriors getting together to bring the carnival idea across the Tasman," Daley, a former Kangaroos captain, said today.
"A lot of the most exciting talent in rugby league today comes from New Zealand. You see that with the number of Kiwi players contracted to clubs in Australia."
The event will feature visits to schools, malls and clubs, a lunch to launch the Warriors' season and a carnival day at Mt Smart Stadium.
