KEY POINTS:
Considering you play for Bradford in the Super League I was expecting a Yorkshire accent.
I was born in England, but emigrated to Australia when I was four. My dad and his family are Scottish, my mum and all her family are English and I have relatives in Australia.
So what do you consider yourself?
To be honest, I don't know. I cheer on the Aussies sometimes, but I also support the English. I have a soft spot for the Scottish. I have to support them [Scotand] because I chose to play for them last year.
You've played one test for Scotland. What are they like?
It's not too flash. There are only about four or five Super League players and the rest are from division one and two. There is a Scotland game at the end of the year against Wales, which I would like to play, because both of my brothers are playing and it would be the first time all three of us have played in the same team. Andrew plays for Castleford and is a hooker/half, while Kevin plays for Wakefield and is a centre/second-rower. But I need to know how it would fit in with the Warriors' off-season. I don't think it will work out.
In 2006, Bradford appeared in Crap Towns: The 50 Worst Places to Live in the UK. Was it a case of wanting to escape?
Bradford cops a lot of flak but I like Bradford as a club and a place. I was looking at coming back because my main ambition is to be successful in the NRL. Anywhere that was going to give me an opportunity to do it, I'm more than happy to go there. I have had a couple of years here and I think I have played some pretty good footy.
Did you play under Ivan Cleary at the Roosters?
I spent two years playing under Ivan. That was key because he understands what sort of person and player I am.
So what sort of person and player are you?
I think I'm a very hard-working player. I always put in 110 per cent no matter what. We could be 100 points behind and I'll still be busting a gut to stop a try. Ivan said I will bring a new dimension to the team. I agree. I'm a little different, a little unorthodox. When I run, I bump and twist, crawl... just whatever I can. They tend to describe me as a livewire, dynamic hooker over here.
How many of the present Warriors side do you know?
I know a few. I played with Grant Rovelli at the Roosters, Todd Byrne. I had a small stint with Wade McKinnon at Parramatta. I know Ivan and [skills coach] Craig Walker was at the Roosters when I was there.
Have you ever been to New Zealand before?
Once. Plymouth.
New Plymouth?
Is it New Plymouth? South of Auckland? When I was at Parramatta we had a trial against the Warriors in 2005.
What is the America's Cup?
Is it something to do with Penrith? I don't know, mate.
What is the capital of New Zealand?
Auckland.
You've just won an army of fans in Wellington.
Wellington. I promise I will be quizzed up by the time I get there.
