It's funny how life works out because 10 years ago I was supposed to pull on the Warriors jersey for their first season.
Of course, it didn't happen after I joined the Raiders instead but only after a tug-of-war between the two clubs that ended up in the courts.
It seems somewhat ironic, then, that we'll be wearing the original Warriors jerseys today against the Broncos as part of the club's 10-year anniversary celebrations.
I am a firm believer in the fact things turn out for a reason and I was obviously meant to wear that jersey but I have no regrets about playing for Canberra.
I learned a lot during my time playing in Australia and now I'm hopefully passing on a bit of my wisdom to my team-mates at the Warriors.
We haven't spoken much about today marking 10 years of the club because we need to approach it just like any other game we need to win.
But there is no denying that it will be a special occasion, what with the replica jerseys, walking out of the old tunnel and the drums playing in the background.
I'm a big fan of the drums and would love to see them return to Ericsson Stadium because they can give you the lift you need if you're going through a tough time. It intimidates the opposition and it also gets the crowd into the game. And the crowd has always been such an important factor for Warriors teams over the past decade.
Although it probably won't help the crowd numbers today, I hope it's going to be nice and wet for today's game against the Broncos. They are such a powerful and confident side on a roll and hopefully slippery conditions will slow them down and put them off their game. In Queensland the weather is usually pretty good and they won't be used to it.
We showed against the Tigers a few weeks back that we can play well in the wet and that was probably one of our best performances of the year.
There are so many Broncos we need to watch today, starting with Shane Webcke and Petero Civoniceva up front. We need to put them off their stride before they let the likes of Darren Lockyer, Shaun Berrigan, Justin Hodges and Karmichael Hunt off the leash.
They can be dangerous from anywhere on the park and we will need to rediscover our strong defensive game that has been such a feature of our play this season.
For me it is the first game back after missing last week's game against the Eels with a knee injury I picked up against the Storm the previous week. I had been confident of playing the Eels but pulled out the day before the game because I felt I couldn't give the team 100 per cent. We are now coming into the final 10 weeks of the competition and I'm confident we can make the top eight.
It's a strange competition and it's been proven that any team can upset the odds. We certainly feel we can upset the Broncos today and I can't think of a better way to celebrate 10 years as a club.
