A Transtasman sporting war is underway without a ball being passed.
Instead the weapons are pom poms and vocal cords.
Vodafone Warriors cheerleader Danielle Miller has made it to the finals of the annual NRL Cheerleader of the Year competition.
The Auckland 22-year-old is the only Kiwi to make the cut out of an initial line-up of 26. She joins a final eight that includes seven Australian women.
But she's taking the transtasman rivalry in her stride.
"I would quite like to beat the Aussies and just go 'ha!'
"I am determined to get out there and put the Aussies in their place."
The winner is decided by email voting. Miller's Queensland relatives have already started voting to counter the Aussie majority but she needs more votes.
To vote for Miller, email blcheergirl@newsmagazines.com.au with "Danielle" in the subject box. Include your name and address to go into a draw to win NRL tickets and other prizes.
