Previous Warriors players who represented Queensland while at the club were Kevin Campion, PJ Marsh, Steve Price and Brent Tate.
Pearce back for NSW
Playmaker Mitchell Pearce has been recalled while Josh Jackson and David Klemmer will debut in a revamped NSW team.
With Paul Gallen out injured, hooker Robbie Farah will captain the Blues, leading a team with six changes from the side that finished the breakthrough 2014 series.
Unable to steer the team to a series win when used in six previous years, Sydney Roosters halfback Pearce's recent form demanded another chance.
Coach Laurie Daley has named him at five-eighth, replacing Josh Reynolds and forming a new halves combination with out-of-sorts halfback incumbent Trent Hodkinson. They are expected to play on either side of the ruck.
Bulldogs forwards Jackson and Klemmer get their debuts and Andrew Fifita is recalled in the absence of veterans Gallen, Greg Bird (suspended) and Luke Lewis (omitted).
Lewis, a veteran of 17 Origins, was left out just two weeks after playing for Australia in the Anzac Test and Anthony Watmough also missed out, with Daley looking to rejuvenate the Blues pack.
Josh Dugan switches from centre to fullback to replace the departed Jarryd Hayne.
Sydney Roosters centre Michael Jennings and winger Daniel Tupou are set to play on the left edge with Josh Morris and Will Hopoate on the right.
Aaron Woods and James Tamou are the starting front-rowers while Beau Scott and Hoffman again make up a seasoned back row and Jackson starts at lock with a bench featuring plenty of size, power and mobility in Klemmer, Fifita, Trent Merrin and Boyd Cordner.
Cherry Evans in doubt for Maroons
Queensland utility Daly Cherry-Evans is in doubt for next week's series opener due to a shoulder injury.
Maroons officials are waiting on the result of scans later today to determine the severity of the injury, which Cherry-Evans suffered playing for Manly in their NRL loss to Penrith on Monday night.
Coach Mal Meninga said no potential replacement has been called in for Cherry-Evans yet, although that could change once the scans are returned.
Brisbane prop Josh McGuire was the only debutant selected in the Queensland team, named on the bench.
McGuire earned a nod ahead of Roosters hard-hitting prop Dylan Napa who has been invited into the Maroons camp as 18th man.
McGuire will be joined on the interchange by Matt Gillett, who has kept out Canberra's Josh Papalii, while - suject to fitness - Cherry-Evans retained the bench utility role ahead of challenges from Brisbane's Ben Hunt and Cowboys pivot Michael Morgan.
Meninga stuck with the tried and true, allowing them the chance to reclaim the Origin trophy after having their eight-series winning run broken last year.
In a shot in the arm, Queensland's captain Cameron Smith is free to play game one after loding an early guilty plea to a dangerous contact charge from Melbourne's last round NRL win over the Rabbitohs.
The series will mark the representative swan song of veteran centre Justin Hodges.
The Broncos skipper, who turns 33 later this month, announced earlier this season that he would retire from representative football at the end of the year.
There is speculation over whether he will play at all next year.
