Jarryd Hayne's hope of swapping codes yet again and making a New Zealand Super Rugby team as he bids for a place at next year's World Cup is unlikely to be realised.
New Zealand's five Super Rugby squads will be announced on Wednesday. The Herald understands there is definitely no place for him at the Blues and the 30-year-old is unlikely to find a home at the Chiefs, Hurricanes, Crusaders or Highlanders either.
Hayne, currently on the way out of NRL team the Parramatta Eels due to the club's salary cap issues, wants to play for Fiji at the global rugby tournament in Japan next year.
The league player had a flirtation with NFL team the San Francisco 49ers before returning to Australia and had to give up on his dream of representing Fiji in sevens at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
But he is set on re-connecting with his Fijian roots and wants to represent them next year.
