Rugby League: Kiwis perform haka for Liverpool football players

The Kiwis performed their haka for one of the most famous football teams in the world on Thursday, as part of special visit to Liverpool FC.

The New Zealand side trained at Liverpool's exclusive Melwood headquarters, before mixing and mingling with the players for lunch.

The Liverpool squad has a combined value of more than GBP900 million ($1.7 billion), and many of those superstars watched on as Adam Blair led the Kiwis's haka, flanked by Kodi Nikorima and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak.

"What a sight" said Liverpool's Twitter page. " The haka is always special to witness…especially in the canteen at Melwood".

Egyptian star Mohammed Salah, Croatian defender Dejan Lovren, and Swiss midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri were among those Liverpol players watching on.

The two squads enjoyed the experience, which has become a regular one over the last few years. The Kiwis also trained at Liverpool on the 2015 Kiwis tour, which came just after manager Jurgen Klopp was appointed, and again in 2016, ahead of the Four Nations Final at Anfield.

"There were a fair few players we got to mix and mingle with," said Kiwis prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves.

"[One of them] was Mohammed Salah – apparently his income is quite impressive. He came up at the back end of it and he got swamped. He was like a magnet and he back doored it as soon as he saw all the boys running for him."

The Kiwis face England in the second test at Anfield on Sunday (Monday morning NZT).
