Rugby League: Kearney to talk tactics with Jurgen Klopp

Stephen Kearney is used to feeling the pressure of high profile sport, but on Wednesday (Thursday NZT) he will meet a coach that comes under global scrutiny.

The Kiwis have arrived in one of the most fanatical footballing cities in the world and later this week will train at Melwood, the practice grounds and headquarters of Liverpool FC.

Liverpool, who are 18-times champions of England as well as lifting the European Cup five times, are now managed by German Jurgen Klopp.

The 48-year-old Klopp took over at Anfield last month, after a storied career at Borussia Dortmund where he won two Bundesliga titles and also reached the Champions League final.

If schedules permit, Kearney and Klopp are set to meet on Wednesday (Thursday NZT), ahead of the Kiwis training session.

Meanwhile, the New Zealand team travelled from London to their Liverpool base today, forgoing their team bus for a journey via the London Underground and train.

The team have spent countless hours on their coach during this trip - especially last week in London - and got caught in a severe traffic jam on their journey south from Hull to the capital earlier on this tour.

"It was good to change it up," said second rower Alex Glenn. "There were a few changes to get out of London but it was an enjoyable trip after so much time on the bus last week."

However their journey was not without incident, with a couple of players arriving late at the established meeting point this morning and forced to do a haka in front of the rest of the team, as well as surprised local commuters, at the bustling Euston Station.
