Frank Endacott is expected to be retained as the Kiwi coach for a further two years when he meets New Zealand Rugby League officials in Auckland tomorrow.
NZRL chairman Gerald Ryan, his deputy David Lange and fellow board member Ken Stirling met yesterday and will put a package to Endacott, who has coached the national side since 1994.
Endacott is without a fulltime coaching job after being dumped as Auckland Warriors coach last year.
The league is unable to offer Endacott a fulltime position as Kiwi coach, but Endacott said: "I'm not asking for a full time position even though people don't realise the amount of work involved."
The Kiwis are scheduled to play a test against Australia in April, then two more against the world champions and two against Great Britain late in the season.
Ryan said: "If he accepts our offer, the job is his."
Ryan said the NZRL may name their new general manager this week, to replace Jennifer Haydock who left in acrimonious circumstances last year.
