KEY POINTS:
SYDNEY - With the AFL and rugby league grand finals just days away, the southern code has nudged out its northern cousin in one field - with the AFL voted the sexiest football league in Australia.
A survey by dating agency RSVP has found AFL to be the most popular code among clients, with the NRL second.
The AFL attracted 45 percent of the vote, while the NRL nabbed 25 percent support.
Rugby Union (16 percent) and soccer's A-League (14 percent) lagged behind.
Breast cancer charity the McGrath Foundation capitalised on the pre-grand final profile of the country's NRL and AFL players today, launching a calendar featuring 26 footballers stripped down to their birthday suits.
The charity, co-founded by Jane McGrath and her husband, former Australian cricketer Glenn, said money raised from the calendars would go toward placing breast care nurses in rural and regional Australia, and raising breast cancer awareness.
The Naked For A Cause calendar was launched at the Sydney Opera House today by three NRL players, Wests Tigers' Dene Halatau, Canberra Raiders' William Zillman and Heath L'Estrange from the Sydney Roosters.
Calendar cover boy Zillman said he was nervous posing for the calendar, but it "helped knowing it was for a good cause".
"I hope that lots of people go out and buy the calendar and support the campaign," he said.
Also featured are the Adelaide Crows' Luke Jericho, Carlton's Andrew Walker and Essendon's Courtney Johns.
Despite the popularity of Australia's football codes, surfing and tennis were voted the most sexy sports in the RSVP survey.
Russian tennis stars Anna Kournikova and Maria Sharapova were voted one and two by male singles in the sexiest sportswoman stakes, while former Australian tennis ace Pat Rafter was voted sexiest male by female singles.
However, AFL topped the list in the most attractive males sports uniform category, followed by soccer and the NRL.
Beach volleyball, tennis and netball were voted one, two and three when it came to sexiest female sports uniforms.
