Former test and Queensland State of Origin winger Jharal Yow Yeh has announced his retirement from rugby league.
Yow Yeh, who suffered a horrific lower leg injury while at the top of his game for the Brisbane Broncos two years ago, announced his decision at a media conference in Brisbane on Monday morning.
The 24-year-old said he could not continue to fight complications brought about by the badly broken leg suffered against Souths in Perth.
Broncos chief executive officer Paul White said everyone at the club had utmost admiration for the way Yow Yeh did all in his power to return from the injury, undergoing multiple surgeries to get back on the field.
Yow Yeh, who made his return to the field playing for Norths in the Queensland Cup late last season, was overjoyed when he played for the Broncos in the NRL pre-season, lining up at centre against North Queensland.
