The Warriors usually do their training on the sports field but last night started up a steep learning curve in the kitchen.
Watching them laughing over their ladles at the Auckland Cooking Academy, their nutritionist Caryn Zinn said their eating habits had "definitely room for improvement".
The players learned to cook salmon teriyaki, chicken with curried yoghurt sauce, grilled bread salad, barbecued lamb and beef kebabs with pita.
Their enthusiasm for cooking varied; some struggled to chop capsicum and others admitted they never cooked because their mothers did it for them.
"Usually my Mum cooks and I eat Burger King and McDonald's about once or twice a week, but I want to learn how to eat healthy," said halfback Thomas Leuluai.
But when it came to trying his salmon teriyaki masterpiece, Leuluai said: "I like the noodles but I don't like the salmon."
Prop Matt Jobson said he liked lean meat but chopping up chives was not his game.
Team trainer Keir Hansen said it was important for the team to eat well to be fit for next season.
