Has the rugby at the World Cup been a dud so far? Would we really give a stuff if England didn't make it out of pool play...and why Justin Hodges won't play the grand final.
Has the rugby at the World Cup been a dud?
Michael Guerin: It's been great fun. Ok the refs have been a little bit monotonous but that's going to happen once in a while. They weren't monotonous yesterday. It was a great game of footy. This morning in the paper, Gregor Paul saying if England get knocked out of the World Cup it will be a disaster, no it won't be. Do you know why? Because they lose the soccer World Cup every four years and they still follow soccer.
Tony Veitch: Correct. I don't buy this argument. People are talking about the NRL grand final saying it's all Queensland and all of a sudden Sydney is going to self-combust because they haven't got a Sydney team, absolute rubbish here. I don't agree with Gregor at all on that. I think if the World Cup loses England, it gives it a completely new dynamic, because it's the first time it's every happened where a host nation doesn't make it out of pool play.
Guerin: Why do we want Australia to beat England? Surely the Australians are just as painful as the English. I'm the Aussies win the World Cup it will be unbearable.
