A member of Willie Mason's management team says the Bulldogs star is considering taking action for defamation over reports alleging he tested positive for cocaine last year.
Australian newspaper reports yesterday claimed Mason is the Bulldogs player who returned a positive drugs test late last year and was subsequently fined A$25,000.
But his management remains adamant their client has been wrongly accused.
A member of his management team, Rob Brady, says they have constantly asked Mason if he has done anything wrong and he has said time and time again he is innocent.
Brady says Mason is one of their closest clients, so they have access to his bank accounts and have never found a withdrawal for a supposed fine.
Brady says that if Mason had tested positive his management team would be taking a completely different tack rather than defending him.
He says they have a suspicion the allegations might have come from Bulldogs officials who recently left the club or were fired and Mason is currently seeking legal advice about taking action for defamation.
