Parramatta have snapped a seven-game losing streak against Newcastle with a 28-22 victory in a topsy-turvy affair at Hunter Stadium.
Two late Nathan Peats tries got the Eels back to winning ways following back-to-back losses, and ended a run of defeats to the Knights dating back to 2009.
Opting to play against the wind in the first half the Eels soon found themselves 12-0 down following a horror start that saw the hosts score two tries in the opening 10 minutes.
Chris Houston touched down under the posts to finish off a sweeping 75-metre move and former NSW winger Akuila Uate then added a second to put the hosts well in control.
But the Eels soon settled down and got back into the game with a try from young centre John Folau, magnificently converted from the sideline with the wind in his face by Chris Sandow.
