If the Titans get past the Warriors today - and the Auckland-based side loom as a real banana skin for the NRL's newest club - it will be worth following the fortunes of the diminutive Preston Campbell in the race towards the finals.
Just 1.67m tall (5 ft 5 in the old language) and 75kg (about one of Steve Price's legs), Campbell is one of the hot properties of the NRL, proving you don't need to be a big lump to succeed in such a tough sport.
Campbell, he of the lightning step, sizzling speed and elusiveness, was the Titans' player of the year last season and has carried on from that. He was their first signing and it was an interesting call in setting a club culture - Campbell had no test or State of Origin appearances but his flair was tailor-made to draw fans.
Even more than that, he had no behavioural issues. He is a genuine community man, with a reputation for always wanting to help the less fortunate. He fitted the club's desire to have a "no idiots" recruitment policy.
Campbell said this month he had planned to retire at the end of the season before the Titans' surge in form - and his own - made him reconsider.
"But I surprised myself and I think I surprised a few people [with my form]," he said. "I have been really happy and putting in good performances.
"That was the main thing I was worried about."
The Titans have agreed terms with Campbell on a new two-year deal, which will take him through to the end of 2011, when he will be 34. Titans managing director Michael Searle didn't rule out the possibility of a further extension.
The Titans need this game. Fourth going into today's fixtures, they have shown signs of wobbling. In their last four games they have had two wins and two losses.
Finals football seems assured but the Titans will need to be high on the ladder to secure home advantage.
Campbell will be a real danger to the Warriors in his 222nd NRL game. He has scored 80 tries and 263 goals for a tally of 847 points.
