• Blues legend Andrew johns has singled out Cameron Munster as the biggest threat to New South Wales in Wednesday night's State of Origin opener in Melbourne.
Halfback Ben Hunt (corked thigh) is set to make his starting debut after meeting a fitness deadline by training strongly yesterday, along with teammates Billy Slater (hamstring) and Josh McGuire (ankle).
However, Johns says Hunt's halves partner Munster is the man the Blues should fear, even though he will be playing just his second Origin game.
"Munster, he's the one I'll be worried about. Because it comes down to big moments," Johns said. "In those big moments, he'll say 'give me the ball, I'm going to win the game'."
Johns said he knew Munster was the real deal after his first touch in Queensland's game three win in 2017 that sealed an 11th series win in 12 years.
"He's a running five-eighth. Look at that strength, look at that right-hand fend," Johns said. "He debuted last year and got man of the match. It just goes to show what a player he is.
"And his mentality ... he doesn't care if he makes an error. That's what makes him such a dangerous player."
Queensland held their final session at their Gold Coast camp yesterday before flying to Melbourne today.
• Former Tigers skipper Aaron Woods, who joined Canterbury this year on a four-year deal worth upwards of A$3 million, is reportedly being shopped around.
The Bulldogs' salary cap mess means they need to shed players to ensure they're salary cap compliant next year. They've already lost Moses Mbye to the Tigers after the star fullback inked a four-year contract with the Concord club during the week, and Woods may soon follow him out the door.
Cronulla has firmed as a potential home for Woods and Sharks coach Shane Flanagan has reportedly already spoken to Canterbury about a possible release.
