Carney has been officially released by Super League club Catalans Dragons along with fellow Australian Dave Taylor and French international Morgan Escare.
Taylor has signed a trial deal with the Raiders while Escare will join Wigan, but there is no definitive newson Carney's future as of yet.
The former Origin five-eighth has spent the past two seasons playing for the French club after being sacked by Cronulla midway through 2014.
It is uncertain if any NRL clubs will take a chance on Carney due to the difficulties regarding his registration and chequered past.
