Gold Coast coach Neil Henry believes Daly Cherry-Evans will honour his deal to join the Titans despite his mate, forward Nate Myles', decision to join NRL rivals Manly.
Titans captain Myles's confirmation that he's heading to Brookvale next year has intensified speculation that his good friend Cherry-Evans will backflip onhis four-year deal with Gold Coast to stay at the Sea Eagles.
Manly coach Geoff Toovey has made it plain he hopes Myles will do his bit to convince Cherry-Evans to stay and said on NRL360 that Myles was probably already working on it.
But Henry dismissed those comments yesterday and said he'd heard nothing from Cherry-Evans to suggest the halfback won't be at Robina next year.
"I don't know if he [Toovey] was as blunt as that [saying Myles should act as a recruiter]," said Henry.
"I'm comfortable with where Daly is with it. He's made a commitment here and I don't see any reason to change those thoughts, hopefully it stays that way."
Henry said the club had deliberately left Cherry-Evans to his own devices and had not been seeking assurances from him.
"He wants to get on with his job and I want to get on with my job here," he said.
