TIGERS 40
ROOSTERS 24
TITANS 20
BULLDOGS 12
The Wests Tigers celebrated their "housewarming party" at the Sydney Football Stadium last night with a brilliant come-from-behind NRL win over the Sydney Roosters.
The Tigers were late to their own party, an early Mitchell Aubusson double giving the Roosters a 12-0 lead after 10 minutes.
But then the newcomers to the stadium rallied to claim a seven-tries-to-four victory in front of 14,426 fans.
Halfback Benji Marshall turned on the razzle dazzle, having a hand in three tries, and winger Taniela Tuiaki and centre Chris Lawrence each finished with doubles as the Tigers came from 18-10 behind at halftime to secure their second win of the season.
Skipper Robbie Farah kick-started the second half rout by scoring from dummy half in the 51st minute.
Marshall threw a round-the-back pass in the 54th minute and Tuiaki put the Tigers ahead for the first time.
The Roosters regained the lead when skipper Braith Anasta scored off Sam Perrett's offload, but it was short-lived.
Tuiaki bagged his second when Marshall's towering bomb was put down by debutant Sonny Tuigamala and the hulking Tigers winger muscled his way over the line.
Fullback Tim Moltzen sealed the result by scoring in the corner in the 74th minute after Lawrence tapped Farah's cross field kick back to him.
Lawrence then put the icing on the cake by scoring in the final minute, adding to his first half solo effort.
After the match, Marshall said he viewed his performance as an answer to criticism he'd received after two performances in the No 7 jersey.
"I just wanted to go out and prove a point tonight," he said.
* On the Gold Coast, the Titans overcame the loss of co-captain and playmaker Scott Prince - injured in training during the week - to score a hard-won victory over the Bulldogs.
The four-tries-to-two win gave the Titans their second win of the season and the Bulldogs their first loss.
A full match report had not been received from Australia when this edition went to press.
