The NRL is investigating claims a Canterbury player threw a water bottle at an opponent in the dying moments of their worrying 28-10 loss to South Sydney.
An NRL spokesman said the match review committee would examine footage after a plastic water bottle appeared to be thrown from behind the goalline in the general direction of the Souths players.
As Rabbitohs prop Nathan Brown lined up to convert Joe Burgess' try on fulltime, a bottle appeared to be thrown from the Bulldogs huddle and land on the ground.
No Souths player was struck and it was unclear who threw it.
Brown said while he did not see the bottle land, he was made aware of it by his teammates. "I didn't take any notice, but all the boys were saying someone threw a bottle or something," Brown said.
