The NRL is facing another drugs scandal with reports surfacing this morning Roosters player Martin Kennedy is facing a two-year ban for illegal drug use.
Channel Seven in Australia are reporting that Kennedy is set to be issued with an infraction notice this morning. The report also claimed Asada were in possession of text messages that incriminated Kennedy.
The NRL integrity unit will meet at 11am today (NZT) after which time Kennedy is expected to be served with the infraction notice.
The prop has been named on an extended bench for the Roosters clash with the Panthers on Monday night. Kennedy rejoined the Roosters this year after an unhappy 12 months at the Broncos where he failed to command a position in the first-grade team.
Yesterday the five Gold Coast Titans players - Greg Bird, Dave Taylor, Beau Falloon, Jamie Dowling and Kalifa Faifai Loa - were cleared to play this weekend despite facing cocaine supply charges after an investigation by the Queensland Crime and Corruption Commission.
