Rugby league club South Sydney today secured one of the biggest signings in their 102-year history, after Greg Inglis officially agreed to a three-year contract.
The 23-year-old Test and Queensland star ended a week of intense speculation by agreeing to join the Rabbitohs, who will be hoping he can help end their wretched record of reaching the finals just once in 20 years and not winning a premiership since 1971.
"I'm really happy to be joining the South Sydney Rabbitohs," Inglis said in a statement.
"The past few months have been like a rollercoaster ride but now I can look forward to getting back into training and preparing for the new season.
"This is an exciting time and I'm looking forward to pulling on the red and green jersey for the first time next year."
The signing is a huge coup for Souths, who managed to entice the former Melbourne Storm centre away from Brisbane, with the Broncos announcing in August that Inglis would play for them in 2011.
However, a dispute over legal fees between Inglis and the Storm meant the Kangaroos star had not officially signed a contract, allowing Souths to woo him south of the Tweed.
"Greg is one of the game's best players and to have him coming to our club is something that our members and corporate partners should be very excited about," Souths chief executive Shane Richardson said.
