The Sydney Roosters edged past an injury-decimated Canberra 14-8 in a woeful NRL encounter littered with mistakes at Allianz Stadium today.
Brian Smith's side outlasted a Raiders side who played the whole of the second half with 14 available players after injuries to star fullback Josh Dugan, workaholic back-rower Shaun Fensom and utility forward Trevor Thurling.
Dugan was forced out of the game after just 10 minutes with a shoulder injury after falling heavily in a tackle by Mitch Aubusson and Shaun Kenny-Dowall.
Fensom's injury could potentially be a season-ending torn biceps with Thurling limping out with an ankle problem just before halftime.
In an error-strewn match, in which the Roosters completed just 19 of their 36 sets, a Daniel Mortimer try, converted by Braith Anasta, proved to be the difference between the sides 20 minutes from time.
