Nate Myles has been ruled out of the Gold Coast side for Saturday's NRL clash against the Warriors at Skilled Park.

The Wally Lewis medal winner for Queensland's player of the series in their 2-1 State of Origin victory, Myles suffered a sternum injury in the Maroons' 21-20 win on Wednesday night.

"Nate won't play. He copped a pretty bad knock on his sternum," Titans coach John Cartwright said in a statement on Friday.

"It's not a long-term injury but it's going to be with him for the rest of the year and it's a bit tender at the moment.

"For Nate, it's just too much on his body. As you saw the other night, he leaves nothing on the field and he'd do the same to play on Saturday night but the long-term risk is not worth it."

Myles joins NSW backrower Greg Bird (pectoral) on the sideline for the Titans, alongside prop Luke Bailey who has failed in his bid to return from a rib injury. Ashley Harrison is yet to recover from the toe injury that forced him out of Origin III.

Gold Coast winger David Mead will play, as a tribute to his late father Stephen, who passed away on Tuesday after a battle with cancer.

In good news for the Titans, Beau Champion and William Zillman will return from injury for the round-18 match.

Cartwright said props Matt White, Michael Henderson and Ryan James would be promoted to the 17-man squad in the absence of Myles, Bird and Bailey. Cartwright said he would finalise his starting 13 on Saturday.
