The NRL has reportedly offered Alex McKinnon a job for life as part of an effort to support him following his devastating rugby league accident.
The Newcastle forward revealed over the weekend that he is getting more movement in his arms and has feeling in his legs four weeks after suffering his severe spinal injury in a tackle.
NRL chief executive Dave Smith told The Daily Telegraph McKinnon was an inspiration, and the league would be honoured if he wanted to take a career with the league in the future.
Smith said the offer was on the table for life, and was part of a five-point plan to support the 22-year-old and any other players who suffer severe and permanent injuries.
A special foundation is to be set up for McKinnon, and Smith said the NRL would work with the Newcastle Knights, other clubs and broadcast partners to create a series of fundraising events.
