SYDNEY - Wests Tigers and Kiwis rugby league star Benji Marshall is expected to be fit for round one of the NRL after scans delivered good news on his ankle injury.
The results show Marshall sustained only a minor ligament strain to his left ankle during Sunday's Foundation Cup trial loss to the Sydney Roosters.
The Kiwis captain suffered the injury in the final minutes of the Sydney Football Stadium clash.
The Tigers play Manly in the opening round of the 2010 NRL season on March 15 back at the SFS.
Meanwhile, new Roosters prop Jason Ryles (quadricep) is an unlikely starter in his side's trial against Parramatta on Saturday but is on track for round one.
Luckless St George Illawarra recruit Peni Tagive will know whether he has a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament today after undergoing scans.
Dragons centre Matt Cooper (hamstring) is expected to play in Saturday night's Charity Shield clash with South Sydney after missing the weekend's trial win over Canterbury.
