Parramatta skipper Kieran Foran has been ruled out for the rest of the NRL season with a shoulder injury, throwing the club into further disarray.
Adding further pain for Eels fans, Foran's halves replacement Brad Takairangi will be sidelined for four weeks with a hamstring strain.
Foran left the field in Parramatta's 20-18 win over Newcastle on Monday night and the club confirmed on Thursday he'll have surgery.
The star halfback's loss is a bitter blow for Brad Arthur's side after the club was threatened with the loss of 12 competition points for systematic salary cap rorting.
The side's already flicking finals hopes took a massive hit with defeats to South Sydney and Melbourne in recent weeks and the loss of the New Zealand Test playmaker shapes as the coup de grace.
