Brisbane Broncos and Penrith Panthers have agreed to play a post season exhibition match in Hawaii.
The fixture will take place two weeks after the Grand Final on Saturday 17 October at the Aloha Stadium in Honolulu - subject to NRL approval.
The last time top level rugby league was played on American soil was back in 2004 when Australia survived a scare to beat the USA Tomahawks 36-24 in Philadelphia.
The game, played on astro-turf, was marred when Willie Mason broke his ankle and missed much of the following season with the injury.
State of Origin was held in Los Angeles in 1987 when New South Wales beat Queensland 30-18 at Veterans Memorial Stadium. It didn't count towards the series which Queensland had already won 2-1.
