NRL: Ennis could miss semi-final

Michael Ennis could miss Cronulla's semi-final with North Queensland after being put on report for a high tackle.

Ennis was a key figure in the Sharks' 28-12 win over South Sydney on Sunday at Allianz Stadium that ended the Rabbitohs' NRL title defence.

But the clever rake was put on report for a second-half high tackle on Souths back-rower Chris McQueen that could jeopardise his trip to Townsville to play the Cowboys.

Sharks coach Shane Flanagan said he was troubled by the incident.

"It got put on report so that is a worry for me," Flanagan said.

"He was coming over the player's shoulder and was just effecting a tackle, there was a few of those in the game.

"We have to be really careful, we play a pretty tough game.

"We have to be careful we don't dilute the product, it is a real combative sport, we have to look after players with concussion and our tackle technique and we have addressed that over the last couple of years."

A first half incident involving Ennis and Adam Reynolds could also attract the interest of the NRL match review committee when they meet on Monday.

Canterbury duo Frank Pritchard and Sam Kasiano were placed on report for a tackle on Gareth Widdop in the Dogs' 11-10 elimination final win over St George Illawarra.

The Bulldogs forwards' participation in Friday's semi-final against Sydney Roosters is in doubt as a result.

Souths captain Greg Inglis was put on report for a high tackle on Cronulla skipper Paul Gallen.
