NRL: Detectives investigate fixing allegations

Detectives in Sydney are casting a wide net as they investigate match fixing allegations in the NRL.

They've interviewed 80 people over the matter and are now looking for a man who placed a specific bet on August 19.

The investigation relates to a match between the Bulldogs and Cowboys in round 24.

Detective Arthur Kastogiannis says the man they are looking for placed one of the first bets.

Detective Kastogiannis says the allegations go to the heart and integrity of the game.

Large sums of money was placed on a Cowboys penalty being the first scoring play, a rarity in rugby league.
