Cronulla have stood down under-20s player Jayden Walker for three months following the disclosure of recreational substance use, the NRL club says.
Walker, a back-rower who originally joined the Sharks as part of their SG Ball side, is now banned from playing under-20s until the latter stages of the season.
The club made the announcement shortly before the NRL's press conference regarding Parramatta's salary cap breaches on Tuesday. "The club's welfare and education team are working with Jayden and his family during this period and will continue to do so into the future," the club said in a statement.
Walker is a former NSW schoolboys representative and was once selected to play for the Australian schoolboys on a tour of Britain, but had to withdraw because of injury.
He hit the news last year when he was arrested in Cronulla on Australia Day after allegedly verbally abusing police and resisting arrest.
