Dally M medallist Todd Carney is out of the NRL All Stars game after scans showed he needs surgery on a groin injury.
The Sydney Roosters superstar will have the operation on Wednesday and is expected to be sidelined for eight weeks.
He will miss all of the club's trial matches and faces a battle to be fit for the round one clash with traditional rivals South Sydney.
Carney is the latest big name to withdraw from the February 12 showcase at Skilled Park.
Greg Inglis, Billy Slater, Sam Burgess, Luke Lewis and Greg Eastwood are among those already unavailable.
