Canterbury will wait until they meet with Des Hasler before determining when he will take over from Jim Dymock as coach of the NRL club.
Hasler was on Friday sacked by premiers Manly for an alleged breach of contract, the Sea Eagles claiming he had played a role in the poaching of several members of Manly's backroom staff by the Bulldogs.
The two-time premiership winner is not contracted to take over at the Bulldogs until 2013, but it is assumed that will be fast-tracked to next year following Friday's developments.
But with the possibility Hasler's departure from the Sea Eagles could involve legal action - with the coach claiming unfair dismissal - the Bulldogs will continue working with Dymock at the helm.
"At this point our plans for 2012 are unaffected by today's developments," Bulldogs chief executive Todd Greenberg said in a statement.
