Kiwi and Bulldogs star Sonny Bill Williams was last month offered a deal worth over $3 million to play in Britain, but the teenage sensation has told the Sydney Morning Herald he is happy to stay in the NRL for less than half that amount.
Super League heavyweights St Helens made the massive offer to Williams last month. It included a house, car and annual return flights to Australia.
Williams reportedly told his managers to negotiate a deal with the Bulldogs instead.
His management team are now waiting until the NRL confirms a new third party payment arrangement before signing a new contract with the Bulldogs.
They say a deal is likely to be finalised within 10 days.
