Queensland coach Mal Meninga has vowed never to forgive or forget the way Warriors captain Steve Price was treated by New South Wales forward Justin Poore during a spiteful State of Origin III.
Price was already unconscious after being punched by Matthew White when Poore grabbed him by the jumper, lifted him off the ground and then dropped him.
Meninga had kept his counsel on the matter but he broke that silence in an article in the FOGS (Former Origin Greats) Queenslander magazine. "Let me tell you now, I won't forgive or forget some of the things I saw out on the field that night," wrote Meninga.
"Especially some highly publicised incidents surrounding one of the true gentlemen of the game, Steve Price.
"Was I upset about it? Yes, I was.
The incident would serve as a spur for Queensland in future matches, Meninga said.
"As an ex-footballer, I thought it was disrespectful. As a friend of Steve Price, I thought it was dangerous and stupid. As a Queenslander, I thought we had just seen the start of the next chapter of Origin's history."
