Benji Marshall will miss next month's ANZAC test for the Kiwis due to his recent shoulder injury.
And there are suggestions his NRL side Wests Tigers are likely to get him to have surgery at the end of the season, meaning he will miss the international Tri-series.
The star five-eighth is trying to remain upbeat despite the news. He has received a huge boost with news he could play again within six weeks and possibly as few as four.
Marshall has chosen not to have surgery at this stage, which means he just requires "cotton wool" treatment and rehabilitation for the time being.
He said it is disappointing to think he may miss most of the season, but at least the latest news is a positive step.
