Former Manly coach Geoff Toovey has reportedly thrown his hat in for the vacant Kiwis coaching job.
Seven News reporter Josh Massoud posted on social media today that Toovey had submitted his application to the New Zealand Rugby League coaching appointment panel.
"I won't be making any comment on who has or hasn't applied," said Bell.
Toovey coached Manly for four years (2012-2015) and most recently finished a difficult one-year term in charge of the struggling Bradford Bulls in the UK.
The 48-year-old former Sea Eagles and Kangaroos halfback is said to be keen on taking over from former Kiwis coach David Kidwell who announced on Tuesday that he would not be seeking reappointment.
Kidwell endured a tumultuous time at the helm of the Kiwis after replacing former New Zealand World Cup winning coach Stephen Kearney in late 2016.
Under Kidwell's watch, the Kiwis managed just three wins from 10 tests and bowed out of last year's World Cup after consecutive defeats to second-tier sides Tonga and Fiji.
Former New South Wales State of Origin coach Laurie Daley has also been linked as a possible contender for the Kiwis job.
The successful applicant will take control of the side ahead of the schColoradoid-season test against England in Denver, Colarado on June 23.
The Kiwis are also booked to host the World Champion Kangaroos at the end of the NRL season before embarking on a tour of England and France in October and November.
