Disgraced league star Joel Monaghan has quit the Canberra Raiders, according to reports.
The Raiders centre will announce his decision at a press conference later this afternoon in Canberra, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
Monaghan's career has been hanging in the balance since photographs of him in a simulated sex act with a dog were circulated on the social networking site Twitter last week.
The Raiders board were set to meet today to make a decision on Monaghan's future, but according to reports Monaghan handed in his resignation this morning.
Raiders star Terry Campese indicated earlier in the week that he'd talked with teammates and they were keen for Monaghan to remain with the club.
Media reports yesterday linked Monaghan with the English Super League if he does not sign with another NRL club for next season.
Monaghan's brother Michael currently plays for the English club Warrington.
