KEY POINTS:
BRISBANE - Brisbane Broncos officials today vigorously denied any salary cap breach while the National Rugby League (NRL) continued to investigate.
As the reigning premiers prepared for the first match of the season against North Queensland in brisbane on Friday, they were forced to address rumours of illicit payments to a player which saw some bookmakers suspend betting for the wooden spoon yesterday after bets arrived for the Broncos to finish last.
Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen, who yesterday assured NRL boss David Gallop that everything was above board, said he accepted league officials had to investigate such rumours.
He said the club was more that happy to co-operate with the NRL's salary cap investigator Ian Schubert to clear the air.
