The injury woes have continued for Kiwis and Wests Tigers five-eighth Benji Marshall, with the club confirming he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in the 24-20 defeat to Penrith last night.
Marshall, who has previously undergone surgery on his troublesome right shoulder, will need another reconstruction after jarring it while making a tackle against the Panthers, the National Rugby League's website said.
The Tigers' doctor reportedly said the injury would sideline Marshall for six months, ruling him out of the rest of the club's premiership defence.
The Tigers are currently struggling, failing to take the chance to move into the top eight with their defeat to the Panthers.
They have chalked up consecutive wins on only one occasion this season.
Meanwhile, Newcastle five-eighth Kurt Gidley suffered a serious knee injury in the loss to Cronulla last night which will likely see him out for several weeks.
