Two-test Kiwis prop Alex Chan has been given a suspended A$10,000 ($10,985) fine by the Melbourne Storm over his latest high-tackle ban.
He has also been warned that any further brushes with the NRL judiciary will hit him in the pocket.
While the Storm are keen for Chan to maintain his intimidatory style, chief executive Brian Waldron said they could not afford to have him on the sideline as often as he had been since joining them from Parramatta last year.
In 18 matches for Melbourne last season Chan was suspended three times, and is now serving a two-game suspension for a high tackle against St George Illawarra.
Waldron said the club had decided to invoke a clause in the standard playing contract which enables it to fine players one-32nd of their annual pay for each game they are suspended.
