KEY POINTS:
New Zealand and Penrith Panthers rugby league star Frank Pritchard could face charges over a brawl in Sydney's south-west early yesterday morning which left his younger brother critically wounded.
Police were called to a block of units at Liverpool where it is believed a noise complaint triggered the encounter between members of the Pritchard family and party-goers in a nearby unit.
Twenty-year-old Tom Pritchard, the younger brother of Frank Pritchard, was stabbed several times, including in the heart, and is in a critical condition in Liverpool Hospital.
A hospital spokeswoman says three other members of the family are in a stable condition.
It is understood that Frank Pritchard was stabbed in the thumb during the encounter, and has undergone surgery.
Police are questioning 11 people over the incident, including members of the Pritchard family, but no charges have been laid.
A spokesman for the Penrith Panthers says a representative of the club has been helping the family.
He says the club is concerned about the situation, but stresses that it is now a police matter.
