NRL: Peta Hiku could leave Manly to join Souths - report

Kiwis and Manly backline utility Peta Hiku is set to meet with Sea Eagles coach Trent Barrett today to discuss his future at the club, after South Sydney expressed interest in trading him for out of favour Rabbitohs centre Dylan Walker.

Walker is on the outer at Redfern, following his involvement in the prescription drugs scandal that led saw him and teammate Aaron Gray hospitalised in September.

His role in that incident will be discussed by the Rabbitohs board this week, as the 21-year-old awaits a decision on a request for a release from the club, and it is expected he will join Manly next season.

However, Souths first need to find a replacement centre, and that man could be Hiku, who has also attracted interest from the St George Illawarra Dragons and the Gold Coast Titans.

Hiku has been named as one player Manly would be prepared to let go to accommodate Walker and the Sydney Morning Herald report that his meeting with Barrett today could determine where his future lies.

The 22-year-old played five-eighth for the Kiwis in the recent series loss to England, but is more at home at fullback, wing or centre.

With Dragons and NSW State of Origin No1 Josh Dugan keen on moving into the centres next season, Hiku could be the ideal fullback replacement for the Red V, while he would likely play in the centres at the Titans.

Meanwhile, All Blacks midfielder and former Sydney Roosters premiership winner Sonny Bill Williams is reportedly being wooed to make a return to his old club after next year's tilt at Olympic gold in rugby sevens.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Williams and his manager Khoder Nasser and their wives were the guests of honour at a dinner at a swanky Double Bay restaurant in Sydney last Thursday, hosted by Roosters supremo Nick Politis, coach Trent Robinson, and former head of Channel Nine David Gyngell.

It will take big money to lure Williams back to the 13-man code, but the Roosters are not short of the corporate backing needed to come up with a suitable third-party deal to make it happen.
